CHAIRMAN  -  THIRU.B.MUNIRATHINAM

Thiru B.Munirathinam, the  founder and Chairman of Sri Akilandeswari Women’s College,  was born in 1950 at Thazampoondi Village, T.V.Malai District.  His parents  are Thiru Balakrishna Naidu and Tmt.Renuammal.  He is a firm disciple of Swamy Abedhanandha.  Under his guidance he along with his friends decided to uplift the women folk of this rural area and hence they started a Trust and named the same as Swamy Abedhanandha Educational Trust.  Swamy Abedhanandha Polytechnic was instituted in 1984 at Thellar  with his effort and in 1995 Sri Akilandeswari Women’s College was started in Vandavasi.

Though he is less educated and an agriculturist, he felt that women should be highly educated and that was the reason for starting educational institutions.  He has contributed much of his effort in uplifting the institutions in various ways.  Sri Akilandeswari Women’s College is the first institution in Thiruvannamalai District which is purely meant for women.   On seeing his interest in educational field,  the Self financing colleges formed an association by the name Thiruvalluvar University Development Association (TUDA) and appointed him as the treasurer for the same.
He is not only interested in educational services, but also in social services. In order to extend his services to the society, he became a member in the Lion’s Club of Vandavasi before 25 years.  By this he has done many services to the people of in and around Vandavasi like  helping the poor people by providing them cash, provisions and tricycles to the handicapped.  Moreover, he felt that even girls of his college should do these services and hence started a Leo club and by this way he inculcated interest in the girls.  Apart from these services, he has helped the college girls by providing free education who are under poverty line, provides lunch for the girls who are poor and to highlight his service, he has helped one of the student and her family who have lost their house in thunder and lightning a few days ago.  He was the President of Lions Club during 2007 – 2008.

He is blessed with a son and a daughter who are well settled.  The whole of  Vandavasi praise him for his services.
